Watch this video to see road safety improvements near the Gailey Five Ways Roundabout.
To improve safety for pedestrians, Council is proposing to install a pedestrian crossing on Swann Rd, just east of the roundabout. This will also include a pedestrian refuge in the centre of the road.
Other safety improvements include:
* Relocating two bus stops (about 15m east) to improve accessibility and sightlines for drivers
* Building out kerbs, so the road will be narrower (and therefore safer) where people cross
* Trimming back vegetation near footpaths so pedestrians can see cars more easily
* In the longer term, cutting back the embankment on Gailey Rd to widen the footpath
Some yellow no stopping lines are also proposed, to improve visibility for road users and pedestrians.
